Hand-knit Sweaters from Nepal

Late each Autumn, we receive a shipment of hand-knit wool sweaters from Nepal. Made by women in a fair-trade collective, these are gorgeous and warm! Pullovers are unlined, and zip-front sweaters are lined with a polar fleece-like fabric. The lined sweaters are warm enough to function as a winter coat here in Pennsylvania. Here's our friend, Faith, trying on one of the newly-arrived sweaters - thanks for being willing to model, Faith!

Radiant Artisan Festival

Last November, we had our first Radiant Artisan Festival, to celebrate our second anniversary here at Radiance, and to offer you a chance to meet some of the artists and artisans whose work you've become familiar with here in our shop and gallery. We had so much fun that we decided to make it an annual event. On Sunday, November 29 we'll be having the Second Annual Radiant Artisan Festival!

Enjoy an afternoon with the artists and craftspeople who make our shop special!

Festival events include:

Stands featuring the work of local artists
A lampworking demonstration with Maryanne Schwartz
Henna Body Art with Amanda Stup
Tarot Readings with Beth Weaver-Kreider
Dillon Naber demonstrating his woodcarving
Lots more artists, refreshments, and fun!

For more information, call us at 290- 1517, or just stop by... we hope to see you there!

She Is, First of All, Earth

We first met Sophia Shultz a year ago, and became enamoured of her work. You may have seen several of her prints hanging in the shop at Radiance. We are truly excited to be hosting a show of her work in our classroom/gallery for the months of November and December. Stop in anytime before the end of 2009 to see the works, and come to a reception to meet Sophia on Friday, November 6. She'll be here from 5 until 8pm.

Sophia says about her work, "Rich with intense color and emotional texture, my work reaches far beyond mere illustration and portraiture, exploring the realm of my subjects’ very natures. My paintings embody the whole of my personal philosophy, from my ability to see the essence of minerals to my deep connection with the gods themselves."

This show includes a collection of portraits of goddesses and gods, woven through with paintings of stones and gems.
