Twins!

So often , people confuse Kara & Nicki here at Radiance.  They look alike, they call each other "sissie".  Or for those of you who are old enough to remember The Patti Duke Show... they walk alike, they talk alike...

Anyway, today they had Beth take a photo.  Can you tell who is who?

Bring On the Joy!

artwork by Mary Schroeder
Bring on the Joy!

A JOYFUL workshop with Jen Yost
Saturday, April 7, 2012, 2-4pm

Joy begins as a delicate seedling we plant in our lives, and then, with nurturing and care, one day we realize it’s become a strong, hardy tree of joy – grounded and unshakable.
We begin with simple yet incredibly practical and powerful practices we can insert into a few moments of our day here and there. This does not require any more time in your day….just empowering yourself to make a different choice.

Breathe in, breathe out. Relax. Smile broadly.

As we amp up our joy, something magical happens in other areas of life as well. Suddenly new possibilities open up and we have the energy, clarity and focus needed to easily resolve issues in our health, relationships, careers, financial well-being and more.
Join us for this delight-filled afternoon workshop!  We'll explore and experience simple, fun and extremely effective techniques for bringing more joy into your life. You'll smile, laugh, enjoy and leave feeling empowered to easily implement daily practices of joy in your life! Wear loose comfortable clothing and come ready to bring on your joy!

Cost is $20, in advance.  Class will be held at Radiance, 9 W Grant St, Lancaster, PA, across the cobblestones from Central Market.  Stop in or phone 717-290-1517 to register.

African Grass Bracelets Arrived Today!

We just received a package full of beautiful, colorful woven grass bracelets.  Woven from the same type of river grass as our African market baskets, these bracelets are also fair trade from Africa.  I think I might need an armful...

When the Women Are Drummers

Early this winter, I started talking to Yasmin about my desire to offer frame drumming classes at Radiance, and asked her if she would consider teaching them.  She asked me, "What do you want?"  My answer surprised us both.  I said, "I want to drum with ancient priestesses of the Goddess."  Here, then, is the offering...

Come to me here from Crete,

To this holy temple, where
Your lovely apple grove stands,
 And your altars that flicker
 With incense.

Radiance is thrilled to be hosting Cori Nielsen, founder of Sacred Childbirth with Reiki, for a weekend at the end of March.  The training is open to Reiki Practitioners of Level II or higher.
7 pm Friday - 3 pm Sunday Mar. 30 - April 1, 2011
Tuition $425 ($100 deposit reserves your space).  You can stop into Radiance, or call for an application form.  Registrations are being taken directly by Cori Nielsen.

Practitioner Training

This profound training is life-transforming. We gather in a circle to first evening to pass the talking stick as we introduce ourselves, to state our intent, and to hold profoundly sacred, safe Reiki space for each other as we share our stories of birth, miscarriage, adoption, infertility, and the myriad of other ways that we have been wounded in our sexuality. This intimate, nurturing space is held throughout the next two days as students experience the Sacred Childbirth with Reiki process. They are taught how to use this process to assist their partner in releasing their bodies’ negative feelings and memories about birth. They learn how to guide their class partner to re-experience and clear all negativity from their own birth. This clearing creates a clean palate or blank slate for them to create new, positive, vibrantly peaceful pathways for the birthing energy to flow as they practice how to birth their “dream” baby.
Each student experiences the process two to three times both as the receiver and the giver. Not only does this create in the practitioner a clear palate to be able to hold a neutral space for their clients, it also allows them to encode at a cellular level a peaceful, sacred, joyous way to birth their dreams.
Life-transforming, empowering Reiki sessions, an instructional manual, specific tools to work with clients, discussion, sharing, integration time, and deep heart connections in a calm, peaceful, sacred space make this week-end an invaluable experience.

Embark upon this week-end of sacred ceremony to:

  • Experience this process yourself to release any negativity you hold around birth.
  • Access the ancient painless birthing wisdom locked in your DNA and joyously birth your "dream" baby.
  • Learn the tools to empower couples to create a tranquil, drug-free birth, without pain on their own.
  • Receive certification as a Sacred Childbirth with Reiki™ practitioner.

Reiki II Class & Attunement, Sunday, February 19

Reiki is a simple, beautiful form of energy work that allows us to utilize the natural inclination of the Universe toward healing.  Attunement to the second level increases the energy flow and deepens your intuitive awareness.  Reiki II builds on the skills developed through practice at the Reiki I level, bringing more emotional and spiritual healing to your practice.  In Reiki II, you will also learn "Distance Healing", which allows you to send Reiki to situations and people who are not close by.

·Review Reiki I
·Learn the Reiki II Power Symbols, their names and uses

Recycled Paper Malas from Uganda!

Last week, we went to New York and met with representatives from several Fair Trade collectives.  The first of the orders has arrived!  These are malas, or prayer beads, made of recycled paper & colored with vegetable dyes, from a women's collective in Uganda.  The colors are fabulous!  Each strand has 108 beads, some with tassels and some without.  108 is symbolic - I've heard several explanations for the number - some say it represents the 10,800 breaths we take each day, reminding us in meditation to keep returning to our breath.
